1. Is credit repair legal?

Yes, use the law in your advantage! The Fair Credit Reporting Act allows you to challenge negative items that you believe are reporting inaccurately, incorrect or simply outdated according to the current state that you live in. The Credit Bureaus have thirty days to verify that the information is reporting correct and if they cannot, it must be removed. Roughly 80% of the credit reports are reporting inaccurately.

2. What is the difference between FICO score and vantage?

Both scoring models use the same credit range (300-850); however, the calculations are different. A good FICO score is 670-739 and a good vantage score is 700-749. If you have 0 accounts on your credit report, you can start building your credit. Once you have secured card opened for six months or more, you will then have a FICO score. On the other hand, if you have an account opened for one month, you will establish a vantage score. Lenders so do not always share the same consumer information or report to all three credit bureaus so scores can vary even within the vantage scores or FICO scores.

3. What makes up your credit score?
35% payment history,
30% amount owed (used credit vs available credit. For example, you have a combined total of $30,000 in credit cards (NOT DEBT). You are using $15,000 of the $30,000 so you are at 50% usage/amount owed. Try to keep it under 10%. If you have $30,000 between the credit cards, use $3,000 or less.
15% - length of credit history (DO NOT CLOSE CREDIT CARDS.. DO NOT LET THEM CLOSE YOURS FOR NOT USING THEM either)
10% - Mix credit files. Different types of accounts : credit cards, personal loan or auto loan, mortgage, etc)
10% - New credit. DO LOOK RISKY!! Do not apply for multiple accounts in a short timeframe. Every time that you allow a company to run your credit, it will stay on your credit report for two years before it is removed.

4. What is the turnaround time for a response in response to disputes?

All dispute letters take 35 days or so. Letters are processed and mailed out every 37 days to give time to the credit bureaus to receive it and get back to the client in the end.

5. What do you dispute?

Repossessions, apartment evictions, charge-off accounts, judgments, late payments with students loans, bankruptcies, tax liens, etc.
